Both the Start button and classic Start menu are gone in Windows 8. If you don’t like this feature and missing your old start menu then you can create its alternative just fallow these steps :
1. Right click on TASKBAR then click on Toolbar And then New Toolbar
2. After clicking on New Toolbar a new window get opened
Now type or paste the code written below in the window (where aero shown)
%ProgramData%MicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
or
%AppData%MicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
(or both one by one)
3. A new icon (Named Programs) will be created.
4. Now unlock the Taskbar and it on most leftward position After that lock the Taskbar.
Unlock the Taskbar to swap it from left to right or right to left.
Enjoy You Have Successfully Created You Own Start Menu in Windows 8 without any software ..
